On Wednesday 21 June, between 2-6pm at Stonehouse Barracks, we are hosting an event for Plymouth's military community, showcasing current and upcoming job vacancies and career opportunities in the city. With 18 employers confirmed, and support from the Forces Employment Charity, Career Transition Partnership and Outset (for those interested in exploring self-employment), the event is set to be an exciting first for Skills Launchpad Plymouth and partners.

In addition to showcasing great job opportunities, this event will also feature three keynote speakers, including Mitch Turner who will be joining to talk about his experiences transitioning into self-employment within the recruitment sector.

Mitch is a former serviceman who served over 13 years in the Royal Marines - he's also an avid Rugby fan (from the bar or armchair these days), father of three daughters and husband to wife and Business partner Lei.
On completion of his military service he found himself working in the international high risk private security sector for several years, however back in 2015, decided that he wanted to be more Plymouth based.
Following numerous ‘experiences’ with recruitment agencies who didn’t understand his CV and the transferable skills he had to offer, Mitch really struggled to find where he wanted to go and where he fit within the ‘civilian’ world of work. Because of this, in 2015 he decided to launch a recruitment business that would help educate businesses on the transferable skills Ex-Forces Personnel had to offer and MLT Recruitment was born.
Eight-years later, MLT Recruitment, based in Plymouth, is now a multimillion-pound business that operates within a wide variety of sectors ranging from Manufacturing and Mining to IT, Defence and Security, with a client base spread throughout the UK.
Backed with Mitch’s personal experience, complimenting their generic recruitment offering, MLT also offers a Specialist Former Military division for those businesses looking to engage Military Personnel into their workforce.
MLT are Silver Award holders within the Employer Recognition Scheme and strive to educate not only service leavers and veterans on the qualities they can bring to differing sectors but also Companies on the transferable skills that such candidates may have, that could be utilised.
Whether you are a service leaver or family member interested in a particular sector, or just want to explore local opportunities in Plymouth, this event could be your first step in planning your future.
