National Recognition for Skills Launchpad Plymouth as Employability Award finalists

Following a record-breaking number of entries, we are thrilled to share the news that Skills Launchpad Plymouth are finalists in two of the twelve 2023 ERSA Employability Awards.

Competing alongside a wide breadth of UK initiatives, the Skills Launchpad Plymouth website www.skillslaunchpadplym.co.uk has been recognised as a finalist for Digital Solution of the Year for enhancing employment support, making support more accessible and inclusive, and providing digital support that complements the work of the city’s front-line teams delivering employability, employment and careers support.

Emma Hewitt, Skills Lead, Plymouth City Council said: “Working in city-wide partnership, we have created a fantastic digital solution to bring everything together for skills, training, education, careers and jobs, all localised to Plymouth. By ‘joining the dots’ we have improved access for local people and employers to better navigate the complex skills landscape, and provided a go to place for the city’s front-line employability advisers to access the latest information. Over 41,000 unique visitors have visited our website and accessed the impartial information, advice and guidance made available in the online resource banks supporting the Youth Hub, Adult Hub and Employer Hub. To be recognised on the national stage as a finalist for the ERSA Awards is the icing on the cake after a lot of hard work and innovation.”

In addition to this exciting news, Skills Launchpad Manager, Jo Lacy has also made it through as a finalist for the Frontline Manager of the Year – Working for Better Work award. This is an award for inspirational managers who encourage and support their frontline teams to achieve excellent performance, benefitting customers and achieving performance against targets, and we couldn't be happier for her.

Jo said: “being shortlisted for this award is not only a validation of my efforts as a manager but is testament to the achievements of my brilliant team and our city-wide partnership. Together we have successfully supported hundreds of Plymouth people into employment, training or to access support, and I’m excited to attend the awards in London and showcase our localised Plymouth offer to a wider audience.”

This year over 300 entries were received for the awards, so we wish the team every luck when the winners are announced in London on 28 November. Fingers crossed!
