Transforming Plymouth Together (TPT) was established in 2015, to help churches and local organisations tackle poverty and the causes of poverty in and around the city of Plymouth. They work closely with organisations, charities and agencies, seeking to tackle food poverty and inequality in our area. .
Following on from all the work they already do, TPT are delighted to announce the opening of Plymouth's first Hygiene Hub!
There are creditable initiatives tackling food insecurity across the city, but hygiene products often take a back seat. Initially, the Hygiene Hub will prioritise oral hygiene advice and products. This is urgently needed, because the ‘Plymouth Report 2023’ confirms that there is a worrying trend of poor dental health amongst children. In 2022, 350 children were admitted to hospital for tooth extractions under general anaesthetic due to severe tooth decay.
In collaboration with Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise, and city centre churches working together, TPT are hoping that this is just the beginning for the Hygiene Hub!
As an organisation, TPT focus on the following areas;
Seeking social justice
Reducing poverty
Helping to build stronger neighbourhoods
Improving health, wellbeing and community resilience
Supporting and promoting church social action
The Hub will open its doors for the first time on Friday 18 October, 10am to 1pm.
