If you're looking for an opportunity to spend time

outdoors, meet new people and make a positive contribution to your local community, the Green Communities Project's monthly volunteering sessions in Central Park could be the perfect way to get involved.

The Green Communities Project is a partnership between Plymouth City Council and the National Trust, working across Devonport, Keyham and Central Park to connect people with nature and support the care and improvement of local green spaces.

Following feedback from local residents, the project has expanded its volunteering opportunities within Central Park, creating more ways for people to get involved in the upkeep and enhancement of this much-loved community space. From maintaining flower beds and managing vegetation to supporting wildlife habitats, volunteers play an important role in helping to keep the park welcoming, safe and enjoyable for both people and nature.

Autumn sessions:

September – Hedgerow aftercare at Swarthmore allotments.

Help care for and maintain hedgerows, supporting biodiversity and the long-term health of the allotment site.

October – Granite set and flower bed maintenance.

Work alongside the park's gardening team to help care for flower beds and surrounding landscaped areas.

November – Orchard pruning in Central Park.

Take part in seasonal orchard maintenance by helping to prune the five orchards located throughout Central Park. No previous experience is required, and full guidance will be provided on the day.
