Next week at Skills Launchpad Plymouth - w/c 25 September

There's lots going on at Skills Launchpad Plymouth at the moment, so to save you scrolling through too many posts, here's a break down of what's on and when next week.

Tuesday (open to anyone 16+)

  • Sector Drop-in Sessions, 10am to 3pm: For anyone interested in the construction and built environment or the health and care sectors, drop-in to Skills Launchpad Plymouth to find out more information about jobs, apprenticeships or further study. Our dedicated coordinators will be on hand to offer advice and support.

  • Aged 19+? The National Careers Service offer pre-booked appointments for help with developing CVs, cover letters, and for general careers advice.

With the NHS and Care in Plymouth recruitment fair taking place on Friday 6 October, Tuesday is a fantastic chance to pop in and see Jack and Lauren, our Health and Care Coordinators for some CV advice to get one step ahead and be ready to meet employers at the event.

Wednesday (Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)

  • 1:1 Youth Hub appointments, 10am to 3pm with Rhi

  • Drop-in and meet with Hollie from the Prince's Trust to explore the upcoming programmes

  • Our Youth Hub Work Coaches from the Jobcentre will be meeting people for pre-booked appointments

  • Could volunteering boost your employability skills, help you develop your confidence, improve your happiness and meet new people? Drop in and find out, our Volunteering Drop-in is 11am to 2pm.

  • Aged 16-19 and applying for apprenticeships or jobs? Pre-book a 30-minute CV appointment here.

Thursday (Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)

  • Find Your Future drop-in at Skills Launchpad Plymouth: Our Youth Hub Coordinator, Rhi, and Jason from Care Journeys have cleared their diaries between 12-3pm to support any care experienced young people in need of a chat and some direction. There’s no pressure to sign up to anything. It’s just a chat, and you can bring a friend or your PA. Pop in and give it a try.

This week, we are also involved in the Preparing for Adulthood Conference at Plymouth Guildhall on Tuesday to support parents and carers of young people with special educational needs and disabilities; and at Launchpad Live, the largest school careers event in the region on Thursday and Friday. With over 2,000 teenagers due to attend the event at Home Park we are excited to be joining the YMCA Plymouth team, training providers and employers to showcase opportunities!

Whilst we’re busy at Launchpad Live, in the city centre, a 72ft replica rocket is also landing in Plymouth to inspire the next generation with an insight into careers in space! Everyone is welcome to get involved with out-of-this-world STEM activities on the Piazza (near the Sundial) from Thursday 28 September to Monday 2 October. Who knows where it could take you?!

We hope this post has simplified things for you. We've also included some quick links below if you're looking for anything in particular:
