Next week at Skills Launchpad Plymouth - w/c 24 June

Another busy week ahead at Skills Launchpad Plymouth, to help support you in your journey to find skills, training and employment!

To save you scrolling through too many posts, here's a breakdown of what's on and when.


Monday  (open to anyone 16+)

  • Sector Drop-in Sessions, 10am to 2pm:

  • Mondays are our dedicated day for anyone interested in health and social care, or the hospitality, retail and tourism sectors. Drop in and chat to our coordinators Jack and James to find out more. You can learn more about the sectors themselves, and how you can gain skills and qualifications to support your work journey. With a huge variety of job roles available in our city, this is the perfect way to get started!

Tuesday  (open to anyone 16+)

  • Sector Drop-in Sessions, 10am to 2pm: Tuesdays are focussed on those interested in the construction and built environment, and the green economy. This is a great chance to talk to our coordinators Morven and Jas about skills and training opportunities in our area. They will be on hand to discuss everything, from the type of jobs available within the sectors, to skills and training opportunities available.

  • Aged 19+? The National Careers Service offer pre-booked appointments for help with developing CVs, cover letters, and general careers advice.

Wednesday (Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)

  • Training and Apprenticeship Drop-in, 10am to 2pm: If you are interested in learning more about training and apprenticeship opportunities, this is the perfect event for you. We will be joined by local training providers Skills Group, and Focus Training Group, who will be available to discuss the huge variety of training and apprenticeship vacancies available in the area. Our Youth Hub Coordinator Rhi will also be on hand to support with any queries you may have around your next steps.

  • Our Youth Hub Work Coaches from the Jobcentre will be meeting people for pre-booked appointments

  • Hollie from the Prince's Trust will be available to discuss upcoming opportunities.

Thursday ( Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)

  • Find Your Future, 12pm to 2pm

  • Our Youth Hub Coordinators Rhi and Abi, have cleared their diaries between 12-2pm to support any care experienced young people in need of a chat and some direction. There’s no pressure to sign up to anything. It’s just a chat, and you can bring a friend or your PA. Pop in and give it a try.

UHP Careers Showcase: Pathways to Progression

If you are curious about the opportunities available at University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP) this event offers the chance to explore live vacancies and connect with professional working across various departments within the NHS.

Whether you are already a healthcare professional, a UHP employee, or simply interested in finding out about the opportunities and how you could enter the sector, this event is for you.

Applying to Arts University Plymouth - Online

Monday 21 June, 3pm to 4pm

If you, or someone you know are looking to study a creative degree, we recommend logging on to the online Applying to Arts University Plymouth Drop-in event. 

You can get advice from the admissions team on the application process, student finance, and how to submit your portfolio. Their knowledgeable staff will be waiting on Google Meet to answer any questions you might have about UCAS, entry requirements, interviews and more! All over video or live chat.

University of Plymouth – Online talks 

Trying to find the right course for you and learn about student life can sometimes be tricky. The University of Plymouth’s outreach team has several electronic resources and online talks that you can dip into at a time to suit you. The talks cover a wide range of topics giving an insight into Higher Education, including finance, student budgeting and choosing a course.
