This week in celebration of National Careers Week 2023 we have been showcasing some of Plymouth’s key sectors, and today we conclude the week with a big growth area for the city, digital careers. This dynamic and diverse sector includes roles in advertising, design, digital and ICT music publishing, software development, computer games, electronic publishing, video, film, photography, visual and performing arts… just to get you started.
We are fortunate in Plymouth to have several companies championing digital careers. Specialist companies include Acronyms, Archilime, Argans, Bluescreen IT, DATA Play, Elixel, Ginium, Goss Interactive, Helm Squared, Imployable, Magic Seaweek, Magicka Interactive, Pixalytics, Plymouth Software, Silverstream, Sponge, The Market Hall by Real Ideas Organisation, The Moment and Vualto. These are excellent starting points if you are looking for work experience, job descriptions, or simply to find out a bit more about Plymouth’s digital opportunities.
There’s also a variety of digital networks in Plymouth that you can engage with. These include Plymouth Culture, Plymouth Design Forum and Digital Plymouth.
Looking to train for the digital industries? Outside of school-based provision, there are courses from entry-level to postgraduate qualifications. Achievement Training Plymouth, City College Plymouth, Bluescreen IT, Arts University Plymouth, Plymouth Marjon University and the University of Plymouth are great places to start.
