Well done to Georgia Marshall who has achieved highly commended in this year’s Building Plymouth Technical Apprentice of the Year award. Her apprenticeship journey began at YGS Landscapes Ltd with a Level 2 Business Administration qualification. Having impressed her employers with her skills in tendering and sales, they were delighted to support her in her decision to work towards her Level 4 Quantity Surveyor.
Recently Georgia has taken on further responsibilities within the sales process, involved with quantifying off plans, building tender packs, following up on offers, negotiating prices and building relationships with clients and buyers. Even securing a 2-year contract with an established client on a large-scale scheme with ongoing maintenance. Her maturity and ability to work independently has no doubt lead to her recent successes, including improving the company’s tender success rate by 26%.
Her employer commented, ‘Georgia is currently taking ownership of our tender management system and is leading the weekly tender meetings. She has embraced the challenge, even improving our internal process for capturing KPI management.’
Having joined the business with no experience within the construction sector, she has shown determination to learn, not only the basics, but also the technical aspects within the landscape and horticulture industry. ‘She exemplifies what a ‘Technical’ apprentice should be’.
Her employer comments. ‘Not only has Georgia worked through two apprenticeships back-to-back, but she has achieved this whilst raising two young children. She is an integral part of the team, always smiling, excellent with clients and suppliers alike’.
Georgia, we think you sound like a fantastic role model and a perfect ambassador of what can be achieved through apprenticeships. Congratulations!
