Case Study: Graham

When Graham, 62 was made redundant, Job Centre Plus advised him to join up to Skills Launchpad Plymouth. Having worked in the same industry for some time, he saw this as a great opportunity to try new things, and have a new direction in his career. He was keen to put his transferable skill set to good use, but was unsure of the best way to approach it.

Spending time with James, our Community Coordinator, and completing a skills action plan, gave him a great starting point. Following advice, Graham made connections with National Careers Service and Argyle Community Trust.

Having now managed to secure an administrative role, in a completely different industry, this is what Graham shared about his experience and his new role:

“Skills Launchpad Plymouth helped because, along with the National Careers Service who helped get my CV organised, it helped point me in the right direction, and put me in touch with the relevant people.”

“I'm enjoying it, but it’s a complete change of direction with new challenges to overcome. There are lots of new skills to learn, but my new company has been excellent.”

“My experience with Skills Launchpad Plymouth was friendly, helpful, positive”
