It’s English Tourism Week, and our Welcoming Plymouth Coordinator, Rhianne, has been busy curating an action‑packed programme of visits across the city. Make sure you’re following our socials to keep up with her adventures and discover the fantastic career opportunities within the visitor economy.

 

At Skills Launchpad Plymouth, there’s always something happening to help you move forward—whether you’re building new skills, exploring career options, or planning a fresh start. To save you scrolling through endless posts, we’ve pulled together a simple, clear overview of what’s on and when, so you won’t miss a thing.

 

Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm

Youth Hub appointments (for those aged 16 to 24)

 

  • Our friendly Youth Hub Coordinators will be joined by DWP Work Coaches every day to offer young people pre-booked appointments to discuss their options for skills, training, education, careers and jobs here in Plymouth.

 

  • They will also be joined on Tuesday by Charlotte from the Virtual School who is offering dedicated support to care leavers, and Hollie from The King's Trust on Wednesday and Friday to explore the latest programmes around hair and beauty, Teams, Enterprise.


Monday (open to anyone 16+), 10am to 3pm

Caring Plymouth Drop-in Session

 

  • Mondays are dedicated to supporting anyone interested in careers in health and social care or childcare. Drop in to meet with Dan and explore apprenticeships, alternative entry routes, live vacancies across the city, and the latest training and skills-development opportunities.


Tuesday (open to anyone 16+), 10am to 3pm

Building Plymouth Drop-in Session

 

  • Tuesdays are dedicated to supporting anyone interested in careers within construction and the built environment. Drop in and chat with our coordinator, Gareth, to learn about the skills and qualifications you’ll need, explore apprenticeships, and discover the latest live vacancies across the sector.

 

  • This Tuesday, Skills Group will be joining our Building Plymouth team to showcase the wide range of construction training and apprenticeship opportunities available. They’ll also be on hand to offer personalised guidance, helping you explore training pathways, apprenticeships, and other routes into careers across construction and the built environment.

 

  • Aged 19+? Ian from the National Careers Service is also available on Tuesdays providing pre-booked appointments for help with developing CVs, cover letters, and general careers advice.

 

Friday (open to anyone 16+), 10am to 3pm

Welcoming Plymouth Drop-in Session

 

  • Fridays are all about discovering opportunities across Plymouth’s vibrant visitor economy — from tourism and hospitality to retail. This week, our Welcoming Plymouth coordinator, Rhianne is out and about for English Tourism Week, uncovering the exciting career paths our growing sector has to offer.
