Plant more trees with Moor Trees

Are you looking for a outdoor volunteering opportunity? Volunteering can opening so many doors. It's great for mental health, getting to know new people, building a CV or simply learning new skills.

Moor Trees are looking for volunteers to collect local seeds, to care for thousands of seedlings in their nurseries and to plant and maintain conservation woodland.

Volunteers are welcome whenever they are available, they can come for half a day, or a full day – whatever suits. Generally, in the winter, there’s lots of lifting out trees and working with seedlings. In spring there’s digging, clearing, and getting the beds ready for the next lot of seedings. In the summer there’s weeding, watering, potting on and grading of the seedlings. And then in the autumn there's processing of tree seed which will then be stratified and germinated.

Moor Trees host three volunteering sessions a week currently: Tuesdays at Broadley Tree Nursery; Wednesdays at Dartington Tree Nursery; and Sundays where you visit previously planted sites.

From Plymouth, they offer a free minibus pick up service for Sundays and Wednesdays and they also provide teas, coffees, and always have lots of cake!
