The first ever National Supported Internship Day will take place on Monday 27 March 2023. The campaign is run by Internships Work partner DFN Project SEARCH.
Here in Plymouth, Project SEARCH is delivered through a partnership between City College, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, Serco and Pluss. It offers a unique opportunity for young people with learning disabilities in Plymouth and surrounding areas, who are serious about getting into paid work.
During this one year programme, participants will develop employment skills by working in real jobs at Derriford Hospital. Participants will be supported to experience three different work areas as you learn the skills that employers are looking for. As well as working in the hospital, there is an expectation that participants complete related coursework, with support from experienced teaching and employment advisory staff.
After completing Project SEARCH, participants may progress into paid employment, Apprenticeships or further individualised vocational training.
