Graduates can bring a lot of valuable qualities to a role and there are a lot of advantages of hiring graduates, for example:
graduates are enthusiastic and will work hard to make a good impression in what is likely to be their first job
graduates bring bounds of energy and enthusiasm to the workplace and provide a fresh perspective with an awareness of current cultural trends and the ability to look at things with a new outlook
if this is their first job, they won’t have any pre-formed work habits or practices, meaning they will be open to adapt to the working hours and culture
being new to the working world, they will be keen to impress, so will be in a good position to fit into a business and/or team
graduates absorb new information quickly, learning new skills and gaining experience in different areas
graduates have grown up surrounded by technology and have developed the ability to pick up new tools and technology rapidly, they will learn how to use any software or hardware required for the job quickly and also be able to assist other employees with technology
graduates will have a proficient understanding of social media, which can benefit a company with networking.

Early engagement is essential and it is recommended to engage with students whilst they are still on their university journey. The universities in the city are all keen to work in partnership with employers and to provide a range of activities aimed to help connect employers with their talented students and graduates.
As well as the option to directly employ a graduate, most businesses and organisations who are seeking expertise to solve an innovative strategic problem are eligible for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). The impact of a KTP will be transformational and enable the business to become more competitive and generate new income. The KTP scheme is one of the UK's largest graduate employment programmes and one of the longest running. It helps UK based organisations to innovate and grow through a three-way partnership with universities and graduates. Businesses link up with an academic or research institution, referred to as the 'knowledge base', which then helps by recruiting a suitably qualified graduate, known as a KTP associate. Employed by the university, the associate then works for the company on strategic projects, helping to improve business performance and increase productivity. Find out more here.
