At 23, Tyler was at a crossroads. Having previously attended City College, he found himself unemployed and unsure of how to take the next step toward a sustainable and fulfilling career. With an interest in building their future but limited confidence in navigating recruitment processes, he turned to Skills Launchpad Plymouth for support.

From the outset, Tyler began receiving consistent and personalised guidance from the Skills Team. “I received regular calls and messages informing me what was available,” he explained, highlighting how this ongoing contact ensured he stayed aware of opportunities. Alongside this, the team provided practical advice around interviews, with Tyler noting he was supported on “what to expect and how to approach my interviews.” This combination of encouragement and preparation helped turn what had once felt like a daunting process into something far more manageable.

As his journey progressed, Tyler found that the experience had a significant impact on his confidence. “I enjoyed the support and the confidence I gained,” he said, reflecting on how this growth translated into real outcomes. Entering interviews with reduced nerves allowed him to perform more effectively: “It let me enter the interviews less nervous, increasing my chance.” This shift in mindset proved critical in helping them take the next steps forward.

With renewed confidence and thorough preparation, Tyler successfully secured three interviews for a Level 3 Digital Support Technician apprenticeship with Tamar Fresh—an important milestone in his journey. We are delighted to share that his hard work paid off, resulting in him securing employment with Tamar Fresh.

While he admits to some nerves, Tyler feels reassured knowing support is still available: “I am slightly nervous due to wanting to do well, but knowing I can still contact Katie if needed reassures me a lot.” Looking ahead, Tyler is focused on developing a career in IT and marketing, areas he feels increasingly confident pursuing. “I would like to further a career in IT and Marketing, which I feel I have made a big step in,” he shared, recognising how far he has already come.

He described Skills Launchpad Plymouth as “approachable, very supportive and friendly,” reflecting a positive experience that has helped him move from uncertainty toward a clear career path.
