Welcoming Plymouth: Tourism, Hospitality and Retail Opportunities - August 2025

In Plymouth, the visitor economy employs just under 8% of people in the city, supporting 7,500 jobs. With more than 50 accommodation providers including hotels and independents, lots of restaurants, pubs and cafes, shops, cinemas and leisure companies, and a variety of job roles within each one, there is lots to choose from!

Plymouth’s visitor economy is worth over £300m to the city. If you want to find your fit and connect with opportunities for skills, training, education, careers and jobs in the visitor economy, Welcoming Plymouth can help. Our sector coordinator, James, has pulled everything together in one place, including links to some great jobs and training.

It's inspiring to see Plymouth opening up new opportunities in tourism, hospitality, and retail—I recently participated in a small local project and realized how important industry support is. I also encountered difficulties planning my trip and decided to read Holiday Systems International

Reviews to understand what to look for. It really helped me evaluate the reliability of the service, avoid unnecessary stress, and organize my trip more quickly. Ultimately, a sense of control and confidence allowed me to fully immerse myself in the experience and inspiration of local initiatives.
