Here at Skills Launchpad Plymouth, there is plenty happening to support you in making changes and learning new skills! To save you scrolling through too many posts, here's a breakdown of what's on and when.


Monday  (open to anyone 16+)

  • Sector Drop-in Sessions, 10am to 2pm: Mondays are our dedicated day for anyone interested in health and social care, childcare, or the hospitality, retail and tourism sectors. This is a great chance to come and find out about current vacancies in our city, aswell as skills and training in the sector of your choice. You will be able to chat to our experienced co-ordinators about your cv, interview preparation and more! This week, why not pop in and find out more about our Careers Showcase event happening this Friday? You will be able to chat to Jack and Nat, and find out what you can expect from the event, and what employers will be there.


Tuesday  (open to anyone 16+)

  • Sector Drop-in Sessions, 10am to 2pm: Tuesdays are focussed on those interested in the construction and built environment. Pop in and chat to our co-ordinators Morven and Gareth about how to obtain skills and qualifications to work in construction, aswell as discovering live vacancies in our city. They also have lots of knowledge about current apprenticeships! This week, Gareth is joined by City College Plymouth who will be on hand to discuss the Hard Hat Ready Programme. They will be able to advise on what the programme entails and offer guidance around next steps.

  • If you are ex military and looking to gain new skills or secure work, our co-ordinator Victoria will be able to offer help with training and courses that may be of interest, careers you might not have thought of, and practical ways to make those changes! This week, Victoria will be joined by The Forces Employment Charity. They will be on hand to discuss jobs and training opportunities to veterans and service leavers.

  • Aged 19+? The National Careers Service offer pre-booked appointments for help with developing CVs, cover letters, and general careers advice.


Wednesday (Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)

  • Tourism, Hospitality and Retail Drop-in Session, 10am to 2pm with our coordinator James. This is the perfect chance to pop in for a chat and learn all about opportunities within the tourism, hospitality and retail sectors. From skills and training, to cv's and interview techniques, we've got you covered! So whether you are interested in becoming a chef, a barista, or an events co-ordinator, there should be something of interest to you.

  • 1:1 Youth Hub appointments, 10am to 2pm with our Coordinator Rhianne. She will be on hand to chat to you about skills, training, education and jobs. Rhianne is also a fountain of knowledge on apprenticeships and supported internships!

  • Our Youth Hub Work Coaches from the Jobcentre will be meeting people for pre-booked appointments

  • Hollie from the Kings Trust will be available to discuss upcoming opportunities


Thursday ( Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)

  • Find Your Future, 12pm to 2pm Our Youth Hub Coordinator Rhi has cleared her diary between 12-2pm to support any care experienced young people in need of a chat and some direction. There’s no pressure to sign up to anything. It’s just a chat, and you can bring a friend or your PA. Pop in and give it a try.

University of Plymouth – Online talks 

Trying to find the right course for you and learn about student life can sometimes be tricky. The University of Plymouth’s outreach team has several electronic resources and online talks that you can dip into at a time to suit you. The talks cover a wide range of topics giving an insight into Higher Education, including finance, student budgeting and choosing a course.

Health and Social Care Careers Showcase

This Caring Plymouth event is a great chance to explore the opportunities for working in health and social care and learn more about how you can make a real difference in your local community. It will be supported by over 20 recruiting employers including University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Livewell Southwest and adult social care providers including care homes, domiciliary care and supported living.

Arts University Plymouth Open Day

Undergraduate and postgraduate; and Foundation Diplomas

This is an opportunity to explore the campus, visit nearby affordable student accommodation and speak with our academics and course leaders about studying at the South West’s University of the Year (WUSCAS 2024).

Arts University Plymouth Open Day

Pre-degree

Interested in post-16 study and alternatives to traditional A Levels? This open day will help you better understand Arts University’s UAL Level 3 Extended Diplomas and get a feel of what life’s like at an independent arts university.
