Here at Skills Launchpad Plymouth, there is plenty happening to support you in making changes and learning new skills! To save you scrolling through too many posts, here's a breakdown of what's on and when.
Monday to Friday
Youth Hub appointments only (for those aged 16 to 24)
Our friendly Youth Hub Coordinators are joined by DWP Work Coaches to offer young people pre-booked appointments to discuss their options for skills, training, education, careers and jobs here in Plymouth. To book an appointment, please sign up here.
We will also be joined on Wednesdays and Fridays by Hannah from The King’s Trust, who will be available to talk about their latest programmes for 16– to 30-year-olds. These programmes can range from retail and animal care to starting your own business, and more.

Caring Plymouth Drop-in Session
Mondays are our dedicated day for anyone interested in opportunities within the health and social care and childcare sectors. Drop in to meet Dan and explore current vacancies across the city, along with the latest skills and training opportunities available.
Tuesday (open to anyone 16+), 10am to 3pm
Building Plymouth Drop-in Session
Tuesdays are focused on supporting those interested in working in the construction and built environment sectors. Pop in and chat with our coordinator, Gareth, about how to gain the skills and qualifications needed for a career in construction, as well as the latest live vacancies—including apprenticeships.
This Tuesday, Classic Builders will be joining our Building Plymouth team for a drop-in session focused on apprenticeships, training opportunities and career pathways within the construction sector. Whether you're leaving education, considering a career change, returning to work, or simply interested in finding out more about the industry, this is a great opportunity to ask questions, gain valuable industry insight, and learn about the steps you can take to get started.
Aged 19+? Ian from the National Careers Service is also available on Tuesdays providing pre-booked appointments for help with developing CVs, cover letters, and general careers advice.
Thursday (open to anyone 18+), 10am to 3pm
Connect to Work Drop-in Session
Thursdays are dedicated to our Connect to Work drop‑in sessions for people aged 18+. If you’re looking for friendly, local support to help you move closer to employment, Connect to Work is a free programme for Plymouth residents who may face additional challenges such as disability, health conditions (including mental health), or neurodiversity.
Friday (open to anyone 18+), 10am to 3pm
Welcoming Plymouth Drop-in Session
Fridays are our dedicated day for anyone interested in opportunities in Plymouth's visitor economy sectors – tourism, hospitality and retail. Drop in to meet with Rhianne to explore current vacancies in the city, as well as the latest skills and training available.

University of Plymouth – Clearing information day – Saturday 15 August
The University of Plymouth’s information day is for students who are applying through Clearing or current applicants for 2026 entry, to provide a final opportunity to learn more about the University and our city before starting in September.
At the event you will be able to:
chat with course academics and student ambassadors to get all your questions answered
talk to their accommodation team to finalise your accommodation for September
speak to their support services to get any questions answered before you start
take a tour of the campus with one of their student ambassadors

Building Plymouth and The Plym Group drop-in session – Tuesday 18 August
Interested in a career in construction? Join Building Plymouth's upcoming jobs and training drop-in session to meet The Plym Group, a Plymouth-based construction company specialising in bricklaying, stonemasonry and scaffolding across the South West.
This is a great opportunity to find out more about careers in specialist construction trades, learn about the skills needed in the industry, and explore potential routes into employment. Whether you're considering an apprenticeship, a career change, or simply want to learn more, The Plym Group team will be on hand to answer your questions and offer advice.

City College Plymouth drop-in and advice session - Friday 21 August
Unsure what to do after your GCSE results? Join City College Plymouth's Drop-In and Advice Session to explore your options. Whether you're considering T Levels, vocational courses, Apprenticeships or higher education, their friendly team will be on hand to offer guidance.
You'll have the opportunity to speak with experienced staff, get help choosing the right course, learn about entry requirements, and find out more about the support available, including financial and wellbeing services.
