After the accolade of last week's LGC Awards which saw Plymouth picking up wins from two of four Plymouth City Council projects in the final of these national awards, we are proud to announce that Skills Launchpad Plymouth is also in the final later this week for the prestigious Innovation in Children’s and Adults’ Services award at the Municipal Journal Awards (MJ Awards), particularly recognising the ongoing innovation through the Youth Hub delivery.

The judges commended Skills Launchpad Plymouth's Youth Hub for the innovative, multi-agency approach to tackling youth unemployment across the city. They acknowledged that the person-centred model combines proactive community outreach with a comprehensive range of support services, enabling hundreds of young people to successfully transition into education, employment, or training.

The judges acknowledged that the Youth Hub exemplifies how collaboration across agencies can deliver impactful, long-lasting change. By addressing barriers such as skills gaps, mental health challenges, and social disadvantage, the Youth Hub fosters social equity and opens doors to new opportunities for Plymouth’s young people.

This nomination celebrates the dedication and partnership working that lies at the heart of Skills Launchpad Plymouth and showcases Plymouth City Council’s commitment to inclusive growth and community support.

Reflecting ahead of the upcoming celebration in London, Skills Launchpad Manager, Jo Lacy shared: "The Youth Hub is now in its fifth year, and all success to date is testimony to the passion, energy, and dedication of our incredible team, as well as the unwavering support and collaboration of our partners, supporters, and most importantly, the young people who trust and engage with us. No matter the outcome, this national recognition is a powerful reminder that the work happening here in Plymouth is meaningful, innovative, and making a real, positive difference in the lives of all local young people.

"Whilst this nomination focuses on the Youth Hub, what makes Skills Launchpad Plymouth truly special is the range of localised support that wraps around our delivery - and is available to people of all ages across the city. Together, we proudly champion opportunities for skills, training, education, careers and jobs, including pathways and vacancies in Plymouth’s key sectors, and work collaboratively to connect our diverse community with the incredible possibilities available here in Plymouth.

"Wish us luck - we’re excited for what’s ahead!"
