With bank holiday season upon us, it is the perfect time for fresh starts and learning new skills! Here at Skills Launchpad Plymouth, we have another busy week, to help support you in your journey.
To save you scrolling through too many posts, here's a breakdown of what's on and when.
Bank Holiday Monday - Online support available
Tuesday (open to anyone 16+), 10am to 3pm
Building Plymouth Drop-in Session
Tuesdays are focused on supporting those interested in working in the construction and built environment sectors. Pop in and chat with our coordinator, Gareth, about how to gain the skills and qualifications needed for a career in construction, as well as the latest live vacancies—including apprenticeships.
Aged 19+? Ian from the National Careers Service is also available on Tuesdays providing pre-booked appointments for help with developing CVs, cover letters, and general careers advice.
Tuesday and Wednesday, 10am to 3pm
Youth Hub appointments (for those aged 16 to 24)
Our friendly Youth Hub Coordinators are joined by DWP Work Coaches to offer young people pre-booked appointments to discuss their options for skills, training, education, careers and jobs here in Plymouth. To book an appointment, please sign up here.
They will also be joined on Tuesday by Charlotte from the Virtual School who is offering dedicated support to care leavers, and Poppy from The King's Trust on Wednesday and Friday to explore the latest programmes around hair and beauty, Teams, Enterprise.
Thursday (open to anyone 18+), 10am to 3pm
Welcoming Plymouth Drop-in Session
Thursdays are dedicated to our Connect to Work drop‑in sessions for people aged 18+. If you’re looking for friendly, local support to help you move closer to employment, Connect to Work is a free programme for Plymouth residents who may face additional challenges such as disability, health conditions (including mental health), or neurodiversity.
We also run community drop‑in sessions throughout the week, offering ongoing support in a relaxed and welcoming environment. To find out more, click here.
Friday (open to anyone 16+), 10am to 3pm
Welcoming Plymouth Drop-in Session
Fridays are our dedicated day for anyone interested in opportunities in Plymouth's visitor economy sectors – tourism, hospitality and retail. Drop in to meet with Rhianne to explore current vacancies in the city, as well as the latest skills and training available.

National Careers Service Employability Workshop – Tuesday 5 May
Boost your confidence and stand out to employers by joining Ian from the National Careers Service for an engaging online employability workshop, open to anyone aged 19+.
This session will guide you through how employers really recruit, how to strengthen your CV and job applications, how AI systems filter candidates, and how to showcase your skills confidently in interviews — with clear guidance and free digital resources you can keep using afterwards.

City College Plymouth Open Day – Saturday 9 May
City College Plymouth has its annual Open Day coming up this May, and it’s not one to miss. It’s a great opportunity to explore the college’s facilities, support services, and course options—whether you’re planning your next step after school or looking to develop new skills.
City College Plymouth is one of the region’s leading further education providers, offering a wide range of vocational courses, apprenticeships, adult learning, and career‑focused training. Their Open Days are ideal for prospective students of all ages, whether you’re finishing school, considering retraining, or exploring new career opportunities.
