Exams have finished, and you might be making plans for your future. Don't panic! Here at Skills Launchpad Plymouth, there is plenty happening to support you in making changes and learning new skills!
There are also some great Open Days to give you some great advice and guidance around next steps.
To save you scrolling through too many posts, here's a breakdown of what's on and when.
Monday (open to anyone 16+)
Sector Drop-in Sessions, 10am to 2pm: Mondays are our dedicated day for anyone interested in health and social care, childcare, or the hospitality, retail and tourism sectors. This is a great chance to find out about current vacancies in our city, aswell as skills and training in the sector of your choice. You will be able to chat to our experienced co-ordinators about your cv, interview preparation and more!
Tuesday (open to anyone 16+)
Sector Drop-in Sessions, 10am to 2pm: Tuesdays are focussed on those interested in the construction and built environment. Pop in and chat to our co-ordinator Gareth about how to obtain skills and qualifications to work in construction, aswell as discovering live vacancies in our city. He also has lots of knowledge about current apprenticeships!
If you are ex military and looking to gain new skills or secure work, we will be able to offer help with training and courses that may be of interest, careers you might not have thought of, and practical ways to make those changes! This week we will be joined by the Forces Employment Charity, who will be on hand to offer support about understanding the local employment market, health care issues, advice on skills and training opportunities, aswell as cv and interview support.
Aged 19+? The National Careers Service offer pre-booked appointments for help with developing CVs, cover letters, and general careers advice..
Wednesday (Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)
Training and Apprenticeship Drop-in, Education Leavers Special, 10am to 2pm
Now the exams are over, you are probably unsure about what to do next. Don't panic! We are here to support you. We will be joined by representatives from from Eat That Frog, City College Plymouth, Building Plymouth, Kings Trust and more! There are some great opportunities here in Plymouth, including t levels, apprenticeships, supported internships, volunteering opportunities and more! This is a great opportunity to speak to experienced professionals about your next steps!
Our Youth Hub Work Coaches from the Jobcentre will be meeting people for pre-booked appointments
Hollie from the Kings Trust will be available to discuss upcoming opportunities
Thursday ( Youth Hub delivery for 16 to 24-year-olds)
Find Your Future, 12pm to 2pm Between 12-2pm, we are on hand to support any care experienced young people in need of a chat and some direction. There’s no pressure to sign up to anything. It’s just a chat, and you can bring a friend or your PA. Pop in and give it a try.

University of Plymouth – Online talks
Trying to find the right course for you and learn about student life can sometimes be tricky. The University of Plymouth’s outreach team has several electronic resources and online talks that you can dip into at a time to suit you. The talks cover a wide range of topics giving an insight into Higher Education, including finance, student budgeting and choosing a course.

Arts University Plymouth - On-line Drop-in event - Every Monday, 3pm - 4pm
If you are looking to study a creative degree, this drop-in event is perfect for you. The admission team will be on hand to offer advice on the application process, along with members of the finance team, and knowledgeable staff to advise on how to submit your portfolio.

Focus Training - Gas and Plumbing Apprenticeship Open Evening
Interested in becoming a gas or plumbing apprentice? These two open evenings will give you the chance to find out all about your options. Tour the training centre, have a go in the workshop, meet with qualified assessors, and talk to members of the team to find out what a future in gas and plumbing looks like.

Discover your future at a Skills Group Apprenticeship Open Day! Explore careers in construction, automotive, hair, childcare, education, or business admin. Meet expert trainers, take part in taster sessions, enjoy free lunch, and enter exciting giveaways!
