NCW2024 – Digital Careers

This week in celebration of National Careers Week 20234 we are showcasing some of Plymouth’s key sectors, and today we focus on digital careers.

This dynamic and diverse sector includes roles in advertising, design, digital and ICT music publishing, software development, computer games, electronic publishing, video, film, photography, visual and performing, but we know cyber security, automation, health tech and AI are also key areas of growth and opportunity.

Key roles in this sector include:

  • cyber security officer

  • software developer

  • web designer

  • data scientist

  • robotics engineer.

Key skills for this sector include:

  • IT

  • creativity

  • dynamic

  • problem solving

  • curiosity.

There are also a variety of digital networks in Plymouth that you can engage with. These include Plymouth Culture, Plymouth Design Forum and Digital Plymouth.

Looking to train for the digital industries? Outside of school-based provision, there are courses from entry-level to postgraduate qualifications. Achievement Training Plymouth, City College Plymouth, BIT Group, Arts University Plymouth, Plymouth Marjon University and the University of Plymouth are great places to start.
