This National Employability Day, we’re proud to highlight the incredible support available across Plymouth, made possible through strong partnerships with local organisations dedicated to helping people move forward.
Whether you’re entering the world of work for the first time, returning after a break, or considering a new career path, there’s a wealth of free, welcoming support on offer to help you build confidence, develop new skills, and take your next step.
What’s happening across the city?
Here are just some of the fantastic opportunities currently available:
Get Work Ready with On Course South West
Starting in September, On Course South West will be running a free supportive course designed to help you strengthen your CV, improve interview techniques, and feel more prepared for job applications. Get in touch today - info@oncoursesouthwest.co.uk
City College Plymouth – Employability Skills Course
Starting 9 November, this five-week programme (two days a week) is open to adults aged 19+. Support for Adults: Ready when you are
If you’re an adult looking to get back into work or explore new opportunities, there is a wide range of support available throughout Plymouth. This includes personalised guidance from organisations such as the Salvation Army, outdoor learning opportunities with the National Marine Park, and free, impartial careers advice through the National Careers Service.

Opportunities for young people (16 to 24)
Young people in Plymouth can also benefit from a variety of free programmes designed to build confidence, explore career pathways, and develop valuable skills. From creative media projects with Fotonow to accredited creative courses with Shekinah, there are opportunities to suit a wide range of interests.
