In November, we launched Military Tuesday, an initiative is led by Plymouth City Council, in alignment with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and working in a city-wide partnership, to provide specific support for military service leavers, veterans, those serving and their families.
Now that the COVID restrictions are easing, we've been busy working up a new programme of activity for this weekly service which is held in the physical Skills Launchpad space on the first floor of Barclays, Armada Way.
Each Tuesday we will be joined by key delivery partner RFEA – The Forces Employment Charity between 10am-4pm and host a pop-up Building Plymouth job shop between 12-2pm, but from April this is expanding to also offer space to the DWP Armed Forces Champions, specific recruitment days, training provider support and access to wellbeing programmes.
Kicking off our first Military Tuesday Recruitment Day is Barratt Homes, on Tuesday 12 April between 10am-4pm.
We're excited to be welcoming the Barratt Homes team to Skills Launchpad Plymouth to showcase the various roles available with this nationally recognised 5-star housebuilder.
Tuesday 12 April also launches this year's Armed Forces Transition Programme which provides all the training and support you need to work towards becoming a qualified Assistant Site Manager with Barratt Homes in approximately 12 months.
Drop in and have a chat with the team about what's on offer and identify your transferable skills.
There will also be the opportunity to attend a talk at 2.30pm
Featuring guest speakers from Building Plymouth, Barratt Homes and The Forces Employment Charity, this talk is a great opportunity to explore training and jobs in the construction and built environment sector.
