Launch of localised Health and Social Care Skills and Training Directory
Caring Plymouth, the city’s sector skills partnership for health and social care has launched the latest localised Skills and Training Directory for Health and Social Care at an engaging event hosted at Cobourg House. Attended by local employers, training providers and those featured as case studies, the audience learnt how this resource is designed to raise better awareness and help educate local people and employers about the skills and training pathways available across the city, supporting both career development and recruitment across Plymouth's health and social care sector.
The new Caring Plymouth Skills and Training Directory 2026/27 brings together, a comprehensive recruitment, careers, skills and training resource for Plymouth's health and social care sector. Developed in partnership and collaboration with Plymouth’s Health and Social Care employers and training providers, the directory is designed to support employers, residents, students, career changers, jobseekers, and career advisors across the city.
As Plymouth's health and care sector continues to experience high demand for skilled workers, the directory serves as both a recruitment tool and an information, advice and guidance resource, helping people understand the wide range of opportunities available and the pathways to access them.
The directory showcases careers across adult social care, NHS Trust, Livewell Southwest, Plymouth City Council’s Children's Services and wider health professions, featuring local career pathways, employer insights, training opportunities, apprenticeships, supported internships, skills bootcamps and progression routes from entry-level positions through to senior professional careers.
Importantly, the resource has also been designed to support career advisors, teachers, advisers and employability professionals across Plymouth. By providing up-to-date labour market information, career case studies, progression pathways and direct links to local opportunities, it offers a practical tool that can be used to inspire young people and adults considering careers in health and social care.
The directory includes:
Over 50 pages of local careers, skills and training information.
Career pathways covering entry roles, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Radiography, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Registered Manager.
Information on qualifications from entry level through to postgraduate study.
Apprenticeship opportunities and vocational learning routes.
Local employer insights and real-life Plymouth workforce stories.
Information on funding, supported employment, internships and skills bootcamps.
