Launch 2026 by connecting to work

If you are looking to start the new year by finding work that fits your life, circumstances and goals then Plymouth City Council’s Skills and Post-16 team can help.

Our Launch 2026 programme running throughout January can support with you access to free tailored advice and practical support, including one-to-one appointments and themed drop-in sessions at Cobourg House and in your community.

Councillor Sally Cresswell, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Apprenticeships at Plymouth City Council, said: “January is the perfect time to take stock and plan for the year ahead. Through our Launch 2026 programme, we’re helping local people connect with opportunities and thrive.

"Free support is available to anyone aged 16 and above, from small group workshops to sector-specific events like the Early Careers Fair for construction and manufacturing, and the Skills and Employment Open House.

"Whether you’re starting out, changing careers, or overcoming barriers to employment, the first floor of Cobourg House is the place to get inspired and access the help you need to succeed.”

The Skills and Post-16 team works as one joined-up service, bringing together Skills Launchpad Plymouth’s Youth Hub and Adult Hub, sector-specific support through Building Plymouth (construction), Caring Plymouth (health, social care, childcare), and Welcoming Plymouth (tourism, hospitality, retail).

This is complemented by specialist help for those facing extra challenges such as disabilities, health conditions, mental ill-health, neurodiversity, and other barriers through the new Connect to Work supported employment programme.

Our team also delivers adult education, skills bootcamps, apprenticeships and supported internships through On Course South West – all working together to ensure local people can access the right advice, training, and opportunities to thrive.
