Are you passionate about animals and curious about what it takes to work with them every day? This June, The King’s Trust is offering an exciting, hands-on opportunity you won’t want to miss: Get Started with Animal Care.
Delivered in partnership with Dartmoor Zoo, this unique programme is designed to give young people a real insight into the world of animal care—guided by experienced professionals working in the field.
What to expect:
Over the course of the programme, you’ll gain practical experience and industry knowledge that will bring you closer to a potential career working with animals. You’ll have the chance to:
Learn about animal training
Get up close while caring for reptiles and invertebrates
Learn about enrichment making and enclosure design
Gain fascinating insights into animal behaviour and research
This isn’t just a course—it’s your opportunity to step behind the scenes at Dartmoor Zoo and experience what a career in animal care could look like.

Who can apply?
This opportunity is open to young people aged 16 to 30 who are not currently in full-time employment, education, or training.
