Construction Employment Support provided to those affected by the Midas Administration

Working together, Building Plymouth, Building Greater Exeter and Build Torbay have coordinated a regional joined up approach to support Midas employees, apprentices and the local supply chain through the challenging time of redundancy.

The virtual employment support event held on 17 February shared information available on a local, regional and national level to help colleagues be better informed about taking next steps. Topics covered included help to make introductions to employers and matching of job and apprenticeship opportunities; support available for job searching; updating CVs and preparing for interview; access to funded, tailored training to support individuals and businesses; information about benefits and financial support, as well as a focus on mental health and well-being services.

Alongside the localised and bespoke industry support offered by Building Plymouth, Building Greater Exeter and Build Torbay, speakers included representatives from CITB, Department for Work and Pensions, the National Careers Service and the construction mental health and well-being charity The Lighthouse Club.

Ahead of the event, over 40 employers provided hundreds of current construction vacancies which were collated and made available to those facing redundancy. The Building Plymouth, Building Greater Exeter and Build Torbay teams will be working together on matching individuals to these new opportunities, ensuring that these highly skilled and talented colleagues are retained by the construction industry.
