Everyone is warmly invited to the Skills and Employment Open House on Saturday 20 June, taking place between 10am and 2pm on the first floor of Cobourg House, Mayflower Street.
This friendly, informal drop-in event is open to all Plymouth residents. Whether you’re just starting to think about your next step or already have a plan in mind, it’s a welcoming space to explore the support, advice and opportunities available to help you move forward towards employment with confidence.
The Open House brings together Plymouth City Council’s Skills and Post-16 team under one roof, making it easier than ever to access joined-up support. Staff will be on hand throughout the day for relaxed, one-to-one conversations, helping you explore your options for skills, training, education, careers and jobs in a no-pressure environment.
Based at Cobourg House in the city centre, the service brings together Skills Launchpad Plymouth’s Youth Hub, alongside sector-specific support for all ages through Building Plymouth (construction and the built environment), Caring Plymouth (health, social care and childcare) and Welcoming Plymouth (tourism, hospitality and retail). Together, they offer clear, impartial advice to help you take your next step.
Staff from On Course South West will be showcasing the wide range of learning opportunities available to adults and young people across the region. From apprenticeships and vocational training to dedicated Learner Hub support services, the team is committed to helping individuals gain the skills and confidence they need to progress in work and life.
Visitors can also find out more about maths and English provision, including Functional Skills and GCSE courses, as well as the many other courses available to support career development, further education and personal growth.
A range of partner organisations, including the National Careers Service, will also be in attendance. This means you can get guidance on everything from careers and training to finances and wellbeing - all in one place.
Whether you’re looking to learn new skills, change career, return to work or simply explore what’s available, you’ll receive a warm welcome. Come along, have a chat and take your next step at a pace that feels right for you.
