Coming soon: National Volunteers' Week 2024

Monday 3 to Sunday 9 June is National Volunteers' Week. This week celebrates the amazing contributions volunteers make to communities across the UK and is a chance to recognise, celebrate and thank the UK’s incredible volunteers for all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector, and society as a whole.

Boost your CV and skills with volunteering

If you're looking to boost your CV, volunteering could be the answer with many charities, non-for-profit organisations and your local community needing help.

It’s a great way to build up practical and general life skills that will show potential employers you mean business! From team-working, problem solving and people skills to gaining hands-on practical experience, it can build your confidence and feel good to help others too. A win-win situation!

There are many reasons you might want to volunteer within an industry or gain insight into particular job roles including:

  • gaining direct experience

  • working as part of a team

  • meeting new people

  • building confidence.

Getting involved

During National Volunteering Week you are invited to drop in and see our Coordinators, Monday to Wednesday to chat about the latest opportunities.

  • Monday 3 June - opportunities in health and social care or hospitality, tourism, retail and leisure

  • Tuesday 4 June - opportunities in the green economy

  • Wednesday 5 June - general opportunities for young people

Alternatively, email us on skillslaunchpad@plymouth.gov.uk to arrange a time to chat to us about opportunities near you.
