Boost your CV and skills with volunteering

Next week (Monday 2 to Sunday 8 June) is Volunteering Week, a week which marks the start of making a real difference. Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or thinking about getting started, now’s the time.

If you're looking to boost your CV, volunteering could be the answer with many charities, non-for-profit organisations and your local community needing help.

It’s a great way to build up practical and general life skills that will show potential employers you mean business! From team-working, problem solving and people skills to gaining hands-on practical experience, it can build your confidence and feel good to help others too. A win-win situation!

There are many reasons you might want to volunteer within an industry or gain insight into particular job roles including:

  • gaining direct experience

  • working as part of a team

  • meeting new people

  • building confidence.
