Alabaré veterans’ self-build scheme

Updated: Aug 22, 2024

Building a house to call home whilst rebuilding life on civvy street and providing a pathway into a career in the construction industry is what Alabare's fantastic self-build scheme is all about. It offers a life-changing opportunity for veterans who are homeless or in need of housing or if they are disadvantaged or displaced.

Under the supervision of a construction company and with wellbeing support from the Alabare team, veterans on the scheme benefit from multiple training programmes and gaining nationally recognised qualifications.  The Alabare team is on hand to ensure the veterans have the support they need to set up and manage their new homes.

At the end of the course, participants can choose to rent one of the homes they've helped to build, and some continue into employment in the construction industry. Wherever this initiative takes you, everyone involved to date has benefitted from the renewed self-confidence and positive self-esteem that the Self-Build scheme brings.
