Supported Internships
A Supported Internship is a work-based programme designed for young people aged 16 to 24 who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). It gives them the chance to gain real work experience while learning new skills in a supportive environment. The internship is usually part-time and can last up to a year.

During the programme, participants get extra help from job coaches and workplace mentors to guide them through their tasks and build confidence. Although the internship is unpaid, some costs like travel or meals might be covered.

The main aim is to help young people become more independent and move into paid work in the future. For example, someone with autism might work in a Receptionist role with support from a job coach to learn customer service skills.
