What's on offer?
Steps to Success
This is a six week course, with one three hour session each week to help people struggling with or recovering from anxiety, mental health problems, addiction or domestic abuse take their first steps to building confidence.
Employability
Practical skills for the workplace, and personal confidence skills including CV writing, interview skills, basic digital skills and more. This is a two-six week course over 15-20hours each week depending on circumstances.
Skills Link
This is a sector-based employability skills programme with an employer link, which involves employability skills with an element of on-the-job training and ending with an interview. Sector-based skills could include training like waste management, food hygiene, professional cleaning, construction skills and basic welding.
Digital Confidence
Entry level digital courses to familiarise students with computers, tables and smartphones, and what they can do. If you have digital anxiety, this short three to seven hour programme could help!
Digital Skills for Employability
Boost your employability by gaining confidence navigating applications to gain a working understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), emails, Google Suite and even basic coding. This course is FREE if you are unemployed and claiming Universal Credit, or overwise £50.
Multiply
These courses are all about breaking down the barriers to maths skills, overcoming anxiety or negative self-beliefs around maths. It's great if you need to help your children with homework, and for budgeting and saving. It takes five weeks, and it's just a one hour session each week.
English and maths
Functional Skills for employability and progression. Over 12 to 16 weeks take part in a daytime or evening class to gain confidence and qualifications.
Pre-ESOL
This course is all about building confidence and understanding ahead of joining the full ESOL courses. It involves a mix of practical everyday life skills applicable to the local context. Two hour sessions will be held once or twice a week.
Parenting
The five-week new parenting course is aimed at helping parents navigate the challenges of raising babies, children and teens, focusing on topics such as emotional regulation, managing behaviour, routines and boundaries and so much more.
Health and Wellbeing
Invest in yourself to improve your mental health and wellbeing through a variety of courses, each six-12weeks long. These courses are all about improving knowledge and understanding between physical health mental health and lifestyle connections. There are various courses available focused on nutrition and mental health, healthy eating for children, diets for health conditions, alcohol and substance misuse, understanding autism and neurodiversity.
Independent Living
This 12-week entry level course hosted at City College, offers the chance for those accessing Adult Social Care to develop life skills through a mix of practical life skills, as well as skills for employability. Topics taught will include getting around safely, managing money, food and drink,. personal care and hygiene, and more.
