16-17 and looking for something amazing to do this summer? Read on ...

This summer, why not take up an opportunity to make friends from across Plymouth, learn key life skills and give back to your local community?!

The National Citizen Service is running two programmes for you to get involved with: one is two weeks long and the other is three weeks long - and the three-week programme also includes a five-day residential full of adventurous activities.

The two-week programme:

This programme starts on 26 July and is based at the YMCA, Plymouth. Here you will learn key life skills, how to write a CV, finance budgeting, working as a team or working independently, but this is also your chance to tell us your weak points and we will design the programme to ensure we tackle those points head on! The YMCA is also where you will plan your Social Action Project, it will be your hub!

The three-week programme:

This slightly longer programme starts on 9 August, and is very similar except for that extra week at the start to spend five days away from home at the Ultimate Adventure Centre, Bideford, learning how to surf, coasteer, climb and trying out the Ultimate Adventure Centre's infamous Total Wipeout course, which is complete with the Big Red Balls!

What to know more about the programme locations?

So, what is the NCS programme?

NCS, stands for National Citizen Service and it is a programme that is designed to turn those ‘No you cant’s’ into ‘No we can!

The NCS programme is all about building on your social development, making you more employable all while improving your confidence and giving you a taste of independence.

It's an opportunity to have a deeper look into your local community, to see and learn things you wouldn’t normally pick up on in your day-to-day life, but not only that! This is your chance to make a difference. As a team you will be planning and carrying out a Social Action Project, this could be raising money for a charity that has been hit hard by the pandemic, doing some gardening for your local care home or even redecorating a youth centre, the possibilities are endless!
